Rick’s Piano Service is a small, home based business that is owned
and operated by Rick Perry. I have been involved in the piano tuning
and repair industry for more than 29 years with the last 26 years in
the Aitkin area.
In 1984/85 I learned piano tuning and repair at the Moody Bible
Institute in Chicago where I also did tuning and repair on many of the
Institute’s pianos. While in Chicago I worked for my teacher
servicing pianos at the University of Chicago as well as in private
homes. After moving to Minnesota I worked on my own in the
Annandale area and did in store and warranty service for Schmidt
Music of St. Cloud until moving farther north in the summer of 1986.
In 1988 we moved to Aitkin where we have lived and worked to the
I am willing to travel just about anywhere to tune pianos although it
may not be cost effective for you as I may have to charge for travel.
Some of my local clientele include the Aitkin Friends of the Arts,
Westside Church, Aitkin Assembly of God Church, Grace Lutheran
Church of McGregor, and other churches and individuals too
numerous to mention.
Rick's Piano & Music is a retail store at 207 Minnesota Ave. N in
Aitkin. We opened on May 1, 2006 and moved to our current location
in the fall of 2011. To our knowledge we are the only music store in
the area that carries traditional pianos. In addition we carry acoustic
and electric guitars, band instruments, printed music, many
accessories and gift items. We offer lessons in a variety of
disciplines including voice and strings. We have the capability to
instantly download and print many music titles with the option of
altering keys to more comfortable settings.

There are currently 3 in our household - 15 year old Dakota, (ours by
adoption) along with Jackie and myself (Rick). I'm not telling our
ages just that we are raising our second family, so that might give
you an idea.
We also have 3 grown children - Jonathan (Dakota's dad), Elisabeth
who is married to Chris and Jared. They are all close enough to see
fairly often, but not underfoot.
Dakota moved in with us nearly 14 years ago and we adopted him in
August of 2006. He attends 7th grade in the Aitkin school district and
enjoys school and church activities.
Jackie works as an EMT for North Ambulance and occasionally as a
nurses assistant at Riverwood Health Care Center as well as being
a full-time mother.
Rick's time is split between appointment sales, piano tuning,
servicing and moving pianos. He also works as an EMT for
McGregor Area Ambulance Service and South Aitkin First
Responders (currently the president of SAFR).
We are also active in the Kimberly Community Church where Rick is
